Audio of Candace Conti and Bill Bowen at the RNA 2013 conference
by cedars inthe audio file is 1 hour 28 minutes in total.
the first hour is the panel speaking, and the remaining 28 minutes is the questions from journalists.. here is the link.... http://192.185.44.220/media/13austin/podcast/06%20precon_%20the%20continuing%20story%20pf%20clergy%20abuse%20beyond%20roman%20catholics.mp3.
candace conti in particular did an amazing job, and the comments from the journalists show how appreciative they were of her bravery in speaking out on such a personal issue.. bill was also informative with some of the firsthand accounts he was able to give.. .

Is Life Good For You At This Time?
by minimus insince you are learning or have learned the truth about the truth, how are you handling things?
are you happy, depressed, confused?

Good topic Minimus, I can honestly say after a year of fading and some therapy my husband and I are very happy. We both still have periods when it hits us and we recall different things but it isn't even an everyday topic like it was in the beginning. My family were never JW's and they are so happy we are out so we have received excellent support. His family is a small family with just his mom and two nieces and his Mom is not happy but she still talks to him but she will never bring up religion because my husband told her if she does then he has the right to tell her how he feels but, she will never tell him she loves him when they hang up the phone now which hurts my husband.
i really think the key is to read what you can on the subject, therapy and we also have read some good self help books because it helps to replace all of the negative talk you hear while you are in. You have to retrain your mind with healthy thinking because what we were taught was not healthy at all.
We have done a lot of traveling in the last 13 months which has been healthy for us. I joined a bowling team to meet some women and my husband joined a meet up group where they play guitars and he has met some nice professional guys. I still get a little lonely but I always have my husband and family. I have posted this before but my husband of 33 years came out with me So I feel so fortunate.
I am one of the fortunate ones that hasn't dealt with the shunning from family members although I have lost my "friends" which does hurt at times but they were never really my true friends. I have also reconnected with old friends from my previous life before the JW's.
So, all in all life is very good!

Terry's book: I WEPT BY THE RIVERS OF BABYLON
by tec ini just finished reading this book, by our terry, and i thorougly enjoyed it.
terry has an amazing gift for words and expression - as most of you already know - and he lured me in from the very start.
reading this book is an actual experience... and i don't want to say much more than that, because i don't want to color your experience as you read for yourself.. .

I usually buy books on my Kindle but for yours I chose the paperback because I think my husband will enjoy reading it. He was a born in and would have ended up in the war but his draft number was over 300. He isn't on this site but I copy posts to him that I think he will enjoy and there have been many Terry posts that he has read. I really hope your book is a huge success. By the way that is funny about the book written by an ex witness and they were passing it around to find the lies. I read that book within the past year and it was funny because it was published so many years ago a lot of the WT isms have changed. You would never hear of a congregation passing an Ex-JW book around now with their paranoia about the apostates. Best Wishes to you!

I made a huge mistake
by KariOtt inits been a tough 6 months for my jw hubby and myself.

You didn't make a mistake, you made sure he had a wonderful evening. If he doesn't want you to pick out the gift then he should go out and buy something you would would love. I may be wrong about this but I think it is probably more common for JW's to not buy gifts because they are not use to celebrating anything. I knew of couples that didn't even give each other a card. Because I was brought up in the "world" I had to give up so many fun things so anniversarys were special to us. Don't allow him to spoil your night and if you love the cross I would keep it and wear it with pride. Maybe it will teach him to get the next one himself.

My Review for Terry's new book, "I Wept by the Rivers of Babylon, A Prisoner of Conscience in a Time of War"
by AndersonsInfo ingrappling with conscience .
a must read, i wept by the rivers of babylon,a prisoner of conscience in a time of war, is an important self-portrait of a naive young man, terry walstrom, who in 1967 thought he was obeying his conscience when he refused to take up arms and kill.
inasmuch as he was a conscientious objector, walstrom could have availed himself of noncombatant service in the military, but he was opposed to that arrangement.

Hi Kim, you did a very nice job. While I was watching it I kept thinking how much Shyla sounds and looks like you. It took a lot of courage to come out like that. I didn't realize you were now DF'd, I will have to go look up your post about that.

Please Hear My Confession, I lied to all my friends in the Kingdom Hall! Forgiveness needed!
by AuntConnie ini ask for the forgiveness of all the brothers and sisters who heard me lie and lie and lie about how my husband lost all his weight!
please make room in your heart to forgive me, it's rare i will open up myself to the scrutiny of jehovah's witnesses net message board, i try not to reveal too many things about my life.
i come from a fleshly family that is screwed up, we learned from youth how to use theocratic warfare even with other jehovah's witnesses asking innocent questions.

LOL! You are so funny, I would love to meet you in person and hear your real story. When you first started to post I didn't get it the first couple of posts but then I caught on to your satire. We enjoy hearing from you.

A lot of very good points expressed. I think you have to be tired of it and something has to happen to you or someone you love. That is what happened to me and once I started to read and research I was shocked because I knew of none of it. I also feel the internet is one of their biggest enemies right now. There is no way they can hid the lies and the crimes against children and all others. I agree with Quendi that it could fall in the near future just like governments do. I would honestly love to see them taxed, they will really pump up the reteric.

At one time it was the last congregation I was in until they had a large group from NYC move in and it changed the whole dynamic of the small country congregation. It was never the same once it split.

who signed your blood card?
by losingit intwo elders in my congregation signed mine bc hubby couldn't bear the repercussions of either 1- saving my life by allowing the blood transfusion, which would probably lead to him being df'd, and 2- me dying bc he did not allow the blood transfusion and having my parents call him a murderer.. isn't that so nice?
when i most wanted him to represent me, he didn't have the guts, even hypothetically.... so, who signed your blood card?.
-
Aunt Fancy
I know my husband and an elder signed mine but when I found out about the lies I put it through the shredder. It sure did feel good to get rid of that card.
